Great pod Dave! I followed the Rich Dad Poor Dad advice that your house is a liability as it doesn’t generate income while you live there, hence I’m renting while investing in income generating assets (property+dividend shares). It’s going well so far however I do see the benefit and peace of mind of owning your PPOR as worrying about rent increases/bond claims, not being able to change things, and FOMO due to Australia’s property obsession are a bother.
Hi Dave,
I didnt think I needed this information as My wife and I had recently paid off our modest house. And I thought I knew it all about this. But hearing you summerse all the information blew me away.
I was worried for my young children if I needed to start saving for helping them buy an appartment when they are young adults to get on the property ladder. But your episode has put my mind at ease. Thank you!
Kind Regards,
Dave (as well haha)
Congrats on being mortgage free!
Great to hear you got value from the episode. I’ll be doing a couple more housing focused ones later this year addressing things like that – the fear around getting on ‘the ladder’ and why I don’t believe young people who are half good with money will be priced out, and how to buy something suitable without destroying your finances 🙂
