678Years of Freedom Created

Sometimes you meet people and you’re left thinking: “This person is totally different from the norm.”

That’s how I felt after meeting James – the person featured in the latest Strong Money Story.

As you’ll read in this interview, even meeting him was somewhat of a surprise – and then I was blown away by how much he already knew at such a young age.

In this story, we dive into his journey so far. You’ll learn how he started educating himself at 14, began investing at 16, bought his first property at 18, and now has a clear plan to be semi-retired and live a freedom-based lifestyle by 30.

What I find even more impressive is the mindset and maturity. Hearing from people like James, and other superstars like Jess, renews my excitement and optimism in the power that information has to change lives.

Check out the interview for a great example of what a focused young mind can achieve in a relatively short space of time.

STRONG MONEY PODCAST

One of the biggest struggles people have in the finance space is getting their spouse to see things the way they do.

See, it’s easy to make financial progress when there’s only one person involved in making decisions. But when there’s an extra set of emotions, desires and values at play… things get tricky.

In the latest podcast, I explore a bunch of different strategies you can use to (hopefully) get your spouse on board with FIRE.

We cover what works, what definitely doesn’t work, and how to find a happy middle ground without destroying your finances or your relationship.

Listen here on Spotify, Apple, or on the website.

AUSSIE FIRE PODCAST

I don’t tend to think about or speak about taxes all that much.

But that doesn’t mean it’s an area not worth optimising if you can.

So, on the Aussie FIRE podcast, we’re publishing a two-part episode on tax strategies – stuff we do ourselves and other ideas that we’d definitely consider.

In the first one, we cover negative gearing, debt recycling, super, trusts/structures, and how your investment strategy impacts tax outcomes, including after reaching FI.

Listen now on Spotify or Apple.

THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK

A quote from Naval Ravikant: “When you look back on your life in the final moment you’ll wish you had spent more time on the timeless and less time on the temporary.” Wow, what a beautiful way to punch you in the stomach and narrow your focus!

You can have all the trappings of success. But if you still think with scarcity (which many wealthy people do), you won’t actually feel wealthy. Money is an amplifier – if you don’t develop a healthy mental framework, more money can simply make you more stressed and anxious since now you have more to worry about.

Some of the most self-reliant people I’ve come across are either wealthy or live off their investments. Some of the most entitled people I’ve come across are either broke or live off the government.
