The basics of financial independence are pretty easy.
It’s the details where people get bogged down, stuck, and confused, unable to figure out the ‘best’ way forward.
In this week’s article, I answer the following topics in my latest Q&A:
– Am I diversified enough?
– Is borrowing to invest still worth it today?
– Have I stuffed up debt recycling?
– What’s the deal with high-dividend ETFs?
– How much should I spend on housing?

By the way, I’m about to do a personal investment update where I share my portfolio and what I’m doing with the money from our recent property sale – stay tuned!
STRONG MONEY PODCAST
In the latest Strong Money podcast, I recorded an audio version of my recent monster Rent vs Buy article.
I flesh out the arguments on both sides, do some calculations, and offer a framework to help you figure out which path is the right one for you.
I also offer some alternate strategies that are worth considering.
Listen here on Spotify, Apple, or on the website.

AUSSIE FIRE PODCAST
This week we tackle two listener case studies from listeners who are at very different stages of their journeys.
One is considering early retirement after stepping away from full-time work. The other is in their 30s, juggling family life and home ownership goals.
These stories give us the chance to explore how FIRE works in real life — with all the complexity, trade-offs, and unknowns that come with it.
There’s also a question about self managed super funds + when they make sense.
Listen now on Spotify or Apple.

THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK
Most people aren’t struggling with the cost of living. They’re struggling with the cost of their desired lifestyle.
Short term performance is absolutely meaningless when you have a multi-decade timeframe.
When we’re young, we have time and health but little money. When we’re older, we have money and time but declining health. In middle age, we have some money and health but little time. The elusive, magical trifecta is having all three at once. Financial independence gives you that.
FINANCIAL ADVICE UPDATE
I mentioned recently that I now have a financial advisor that I trust to help you with tricky scenarios and when you want a second opinion from someone who’s read my book and gets this FI stuff.
Some of you had an issue booking an appointment because their calendar was booked out. This has now been fixed – they’re opening up a special lane for Strong Money readers 🙂
So if you were after help with your strategy, optimisation and retirement planning, feel free to use this page to reach out (I’m told the onboarding has also been simplified).
Just so you know, this is a referral partnership, which means I may receive a small fee (at no extra cost to you) if you choose to work with them. As always, I only recommend people I genuinely trust.
