It’s time to rip open the digital mailbag and answer some reader questions!
This week, we’re discussing…
1- A follow up on a previous question about LICs
2- Frustrations of dealing with increasing amounts of tax while building a portfolio
3- Whether adding active or high yield funds makes sense
4- My thoughts on VHY (the first share I ever owned), and why I didn’t like it in practice

STRONG MONEY PODCAST
In the latest episode of my solo podcast, I share a few key lessons and reflections from having total freedom in my 30s.
Not everyone gets this type of experience, and it has led to some interesting observations.
I hope it gives you an idea of what to expect as you work towards your own version of a freedom-based lifestyle.

AUSSIE FIRE PODCAST
What makes FIRE so interesting is how different everyone’s plans are.
Like our latest case study – they aren’t sure if they’ll be retiring in Australia, or back home in Colombia. With that in mind, they reached out for our thoughts on their situation and how to plan going forward.
Our second case study is about a single in Perth who’s struggling with seeing house prices go through the roof. They’re seeing everyone else make easy money while they plug away with their own strategy.
We unpack the FOMO and offer some much needed perspective.

THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK
The ability to wait – to delay lifestyle creep, liabilities and expensive purchases – is a massive advantage in the modern world. Almost nobody can manage it.
One reason people worry about living off investments is they’re looking for safety in external things. A bulletproof plan that will work in all scenarios. But the best safety net is being able to trust in your ability to adapt and handle whatever situation you’re in.
At the end of your life, will you wish you had worked more and made more money… or that you had enjoyed more of your time here?
BOOK FEEDBACK
I’ve started to get messages come in from people who’ve read or listened to my new book.
Here’s an example:

Several people are immediately implementing their freedom/semi-retirement plans after reading the book. It’s amazing to see stuff like that – it’s exactly the kind of impact I was hoping for!
As a small self-published author, I rely on readers like you to get this book into the hands of those who need it. So if you’re finding it valuable, please share it far and wide – it really does make a difference.
p.s. Audible should be live any day now – they just take way longer than every other platform for some reason!
ETF COMPARISON TOOL
One of your fellow readers has made something pretty cool.
It’s a free and easy to use tool for comparing different ETFs. They shared it with me so I thought I’d share it with you 🙂
Take a look here.
Just plug in the ETFs (listed on the ASX) that you want to compare and it’ll show you a summary of the overlap between each one.
You can also easily see the price growth differences over time as well. I’ve suggested some additional tweaks like explainers and total return rather than price only, but it’s a cool little tool in its early stages nonetheless.
