A lot of people think certain expenses are basically fixed.
Housing. Insurance. Food. Transport. All that boring stuff.
But I think this framing is a complete trap. In fact, I think the term ‘fixed costs’ is a lie.
In my new article, I explain:
— The myth of ‘fixed costs’ and why it’s false
— How to re-think major categories of spending
— The link between flexible thinking and financial freedom
— Why you can be picky about some things, but not everything

STRONG MONEY PODCAST
The start of the FI journey is exciting. And the end is exciting too – obviously!
It’s those years in the middle that most people struggle with – doing everything right and just waiting.
My latest podcast goes into 4 ways to handle it, what I did, and the one thing I should have paid more attention to.

AUSSIE FIRE PODCAST
After the recent tax changes, plenty of people made comments – half joking – about packing up and taking their money overseas.
Enough of them were semi-curious about it that we decided it was worth discussing in more detail.
In this episode of Aussie FIRE, we explore the idea of Geo FIRE (good old fashioned geographical arbitrage) – why people do it, who it’s best suited to, which locations work, and how it changes your FI number.
We’ve also got a special guest coming on soon who’s an expert in the technical aspects like visas, tax rules, residencies, etc. so stay tuned for that.

THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK
If you build enough wealth to retire early, there is basically ZERO chance you ever run out of money. People are so risk-conscious they end up sacrificing a 100% chance of freedom for a 1% chance it goes wrong. If you follow the right principles, you can make your money last forever.
A lot of Aussies still see the share market as a random casino. But what they’re really saying is: “I never bothered to learn how this thing works.” A casino with over $100 trillion of rich people’s money parked in it is probably worth a closer look.
If you retire early, don’t be afraid of doing absolutely nothing for a while. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need to recharge. Your mind will start generating ideas and possibilities of what comes next.
SYDNEY TRIP ROUNDUP
A couple of weeks ago I went to Sydney for the week to see my friend at Pearler.
Hayden and I recorded a bunch of in-person episodes in the new recording studio they’ve built, and we also filmed a bunch of short form videos too.
If you follow myself or Pearler on socials, you’ll probably see some of those popping up in the next month or two.
It was really cool hanging out in a team environment, something I haven’t done for a very long time. I didn’t get to see much of Sydney, so next time I think I’ll stay longer.
It’s great to see the team they’ve put together and watching an Aussie finance startup succeed and compete with the big end of town. There’s now a few BILLION dollars invested on the platform – I remember when it was just a couple million.
